Thurrock 19, Medway 34

THURROCK Mens Firsts' quest for a first victory of the season goes on after Saturday's (9 November) London and South East Regional Two South East defeat at Oakfield.

Tees have yet to beat Medway, the three previous meetings in the London South East Division having all ended in defeat.

Things did look promising at half time when the hosts were 14-10 ahead.

Medway had crossed the line with unconverted efforts in the fifth and 27th minutes but Kodie Holloway got a try, converted by Harry Reynolds on 34 minutes.

Though Thurrock were temporarily down to 14 when Tani Loka was yellow-carded, Jay Jennings then scored, again converted by Reynolds to lead at half time.

And an unconverted second try for Thurrock from Holloway edged them further ahead early in the second half.

However, the wheels came off then William Lewis was yellow carded on 52 minutes, with Medway scoring two tries soon after and when Loka saw red just after the hour the visitors were able to press on and secure victory with two more tries.

There will be more senior action at Oakfield on Sunday when Thurrock T-Birds Seconds will be at home to Chelmsford in the Women's NC 1 South East (North). T-Birds have played just two matches in the division, winning both and sit fifth, a place behind the visitors who have three wins from five matches.
