AFTER hammering visitors Maldon 91-5 last time out, London and South East Essex Counties One title chasers Thurrock face a much tougher task with a trip to East London today (Saturday, 21 March).

A championship win remains in Thurrock's own hands as they trail current leaders Epping Upper Clapton by just one point, with a match in hand. Epping will expect to keep their tabletop position at the end of today's action as they host second-from-bottom Upminster, with Thurrock's task against fifth-placed East London at Holland Road in West Ham a much tougher proposition.

It's more than a month since Stanford-le-Hope last stepped out in league action but they do so today at home to Chingford. It's been a tough season at this higher level for Stanford and they sit bottom of the table with just two wins to their name. However, Chingford, just two places above them only have three themselves so there may well be anticipation of a profitable afternoon at the Rec.

In Essex Division One, Thurrock Seconds travel to third-placed Chelmsford Seconds while Pegasus Palmerians entertain bottom club Maldon Seconds at Palmer's College. Pegs can climb no higher than their current sixth place in the table, but they are just a point ahead of local rivals Thurrock and will want to keep their noses ahead for local bragging rights.

In Essex Two, third-placed Thames are at home to Bancroft who sit fifth and 14 points behind them, so there will also be expectations of local success at Garron Lane.

Thurrock ladies, the T-Birds, will complete their Championship South campaign with a trip to Sunbury-On-Thames where they will be hosted by London Irish. It's been a tough season with more lows than highs for T-Birds who are set to finish sixth – but they have introduced a number of new younger players into their squad as they have regenerated following seasons of continual success and the club will have better expectations next season.
