Time to be a busy bee

CALLING all eco-explorers! Lakeside Shopping Centre is hosting a Busy Bee Trail this May Half Term, providing the perfect free activity for adventurous families.

Taking place from Tuesday 26 May to Thursday 28 May, simply head to The People's Patch – Lakeside's new community garden located right by the bus station – to take part in the fun. The interactive trail will operate daily from 10am-11am for SEND Children, with all welcome from 11am-3pm.

Once they arrive, little explorers will receive their trail flyer packed with everything they need to get buzzing. Families will then follow a fun-filled route around the centre, stopping at four interactive checkpoints to collect letters and crack the mystery word along the way.

After completing the trail, participants can make their way back to The People's Patch for the grand finale, where they can collect their very own sunflower growing kit and certificate to take home. Adding to the fun, families will be able to enjoy a range of interactive colouring sheets, alongside bee and butterfly face painting.

The Busy Bee Trail also offers visitors a first look at The People's Patch – a new community garden located in the repurposed car wash. The new greenhouse is set to act as an environmentally focused community space, hosting gardening workshops led by Lakeside staff in partnership with local schools.

In additional to the Busy Bee Trail, roaming butterfly stilt walkers will be positioned outside Marks & Spencer exist by the bus stop, throughout May Half Term, bringing even more colourful fun and plenty of picture-perfect moments for families to enjoy.

Whether it be enjoying the great outdoors at Lakeside's iconic 20 acre lake, dining at one of the centre's great restaurants or shopping to your heart's content, Lakeside has something for every family this May Half Term.Nancy Foster, Centre Director at Lakeside Shopping Centre, commented: "We are looking forward to Essex families getting a taste of what will be available through our Busy Bee Trail. From cracking clues and exploring the centre to getting hands-on with nature-inspired activities, the trail is designed to offer a fun, free day out for families during the school holidays."
