RECIPIENTS of donations from money raised at the Co-op stores on High Street, Stanford-le-Hope and Gardner Avenue, Corringham, have been delighted to get their pay-outs after a year of being supported.

Every year the store selects good causes from a list of nominations by local people, who will benefit from goods sold there.

When Co-op Members buy selected Co-op branded products and services, 2p for every pound spent goes into their Co-op Membership account and Co-op gives the same to support community organisations and local causes.

Benefitting over the past 12 months were 1st Corringham Scout Group and Thurrock Foodbank.

Recently members of the scouts attended to receive and celebrate their pay-out and were greeted by Co-op Member Pioneer Victoria Jo Avery, who liaises with the local community.

Victoria Jo said: "I was so happy to celebrate with 1st Corringham Scout Group as they received £2,307 raised by Co-op Members and the local community for this fantastic cause!

"I look forward to a similar event with Thurrock Foodbank when it can be arranged.

"Huge thanks are due to the local community for all your help and donations."

Co-op Membership helps support Co-op's national charity partners and Local Community Fund causes. See www.coop.co.uk/membership.
