ANOTHER bid is being made to win approval for the conversion of an office space in Corringham into three homes.

A previous application for the plan to create three self-contained new homes on the site at Woodbrooke Way was rejected, but an amended plan has now been resubmitted.

The applicant says: "This application follows refusal of planning permission for a similar proposal. This new application seeks to overcome the reasons for refusal.

"Significant changes have been made to the scheme in summary as follows:

  • removal of the single-storey extension;
  • provision of a larger private garden the ground floor flat;
  • provision of 3 car parking spaces within the rear curtilage;
  • alterations to the front elevation to retain the appearance of a shop front."
Recommending refusal for the previous application in January this year, officers said: "The proposed alterations to the shopfront, by reason of its design and form, would appear out of character within the wider street scene resulting in an incongruous and unsympathetic feature." The new application and the opportunity to comment can be found via this link.
