TRAFFIC has been disrupted following related incidents this evening (New Year's Eve, 31 December) in the Tilbury and Chadwell areas.

Earlier this evening, around 8pm, a bus and a motorcycle were in collision on Chadwell Hill.

The road was reported to be closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.

There is also a heavy police presence in the Adelaide Road area of Tilbury.

A statement from Essex Police says: "Chadwell Hill is currently closed at the junction with the Cross Keys.

"As part of the same incident, we have also closed a section of road nearby, in Adelaide Road, #Tilbury.

"We expect both stretches of road to be closed for some time whilst emergency services deal with the incident and a thorough investigation can be carried out.

"Officers are currently carrying out fast-faced enquiries in order to piece together the circumstances leading up to the collision and we have spoken to a number of witnesses to get their accounts.

"At this stage, we also know some passengers on the bus which was involved have left the area without speaking to police and we would urge those people to please get in touch with us so we can take their accounts.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage of it should get in touch as soon as possible.

"You can let us know by submitting a report on our website or by using our online Live Chat service available Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) between 10am-9pm.

"Visit http://esxpol.uk/PhcOE to find out more about our website reporting services.

"Alternatively, you can call us on 101.

"Please cite crime incident 859 of 31 December."
