THURROCK Council leader Cllr Andrew Jefferies has delivered his final message of a turbulent 2023, and highlighted the way residents can play an increasing role in the authority's future.

Cllr Jefferies says: "I hope everyone had a happy Christmas and is now looking forward to the new year, which arrives on Monday.

"The new year is a great time to reflect on what we have achieved over the past 12 months and think about the changes we want to make for the future.

"I imagine that once again my New Year's resolution will be to get more exercise, maybe this year it will actually last beyond January!

"2024 is likely to be a time of change for Thurrock Council as we move to become an enabling council which helps link local people with the services and opportunities that allow them to help themselves.

"To make sure that residents' views are reflected in our proposals, we want to hear from you through our Consultation Portal. If you have a few minutes spare over the bank holiday weekend we would really appreciate if you could share your opinions.

"I would like to wish all residents a happy new year!"
