A THURROCK community has expressed its anger after an ambulance was attacked today.
A call for witnesses has gone out after the incident which happened when the ambulance stopped in Linford to pick up a crew member.
While it was parked someone threw an object at the ambulance, smashing a window, before fleeing the scene.
In the immediate aftermath of the incident one of the crew members, Ben Clarke, took to social media to say: "The truck is now off the road for a few days and we will be off the run for a hour or so while we go back to base to change truck.
"The worst thing is the truck is a modified mental health truck and one of only three on shift in London tonight and we have jobs stacking up."
Residents in Linford and neighbouring East Tilbury have condemned the attack and expressed apologies to the crew and ambulance service, saying it is not representative of the regard in which the NHS service are held in Thurrock.
