FOR the second time in successive days emergency services have had to deal with a collision between vehicles at the notorious Marshfoot Road junction with the A1089 slip road between Chadwell St Mary and Grays.

The second crash happened this evening (Saturday, 30 April), just before 7pm and involved at least two vehicles, both of which sustained significant damage. Though the East of England Ambulance Service attended is is not thought anyone was seriously injured.

The crash follows one yesterday when four people were treated by medics after a collisions involving two vehicles and a bus. One person required treatement at hospital.

The junction has a notorious record for collisions over recent years, with Essex Police identifying poroblems with the signage and configuration a couple of years ago,. However, despite some minor amendments, Thurrock Council's highweys department insists the junction is not an accident blackspot or dangerous. Local councillors have asked, without success, for changes to be made to the junction.
