AFTER a hectic few days a Thurrock butcher who suffered at the hands of crooks can put his feet up this evening (Christmas Eve) after making good on a promise that no-one would miss out on their festive fare.

Last week Thurrock Nub News reported on the theft of thousands of pounds of meat from the Linford shop of J. York Butchers.

Shop owner John York pledged he would put in all the extra hours required to make good the loss of pre-prepared meats and today he was able to close his doors at lunchtime having done just that.

And he even had a few last minute cuts of meat to spare for late bargain hunters!

"Thanks again for all your kind messages this past week they have been very much appreciated" said John who, together with his staff, can now put their feet up until the shop opens again next Wednesday, 30 December).
