c2c has announced that it will again be providing free travel right across its route for all those taking part in this year's London Marathon on Sunday (21 April).

To claim the free return trip, participating runners simply need to present their official race number or finisher's medal to c2c staff, at both their departure and arrival stations.

Commenting, c2c's Managing Director Rob Mullen, said: "I am delighted to announce that we will once again be offering free travel across the c2c route to all those taking part in this year's London Marathon.

"This is our little way of saying "thank you" to the thousands of heroes who will be taking on the grueling 26.2-mile course and raising vital funds and awareness for the many great and deserving charities they represent."

Mr Mullen, a keen runner himself, added: "c2c would like to wish everyone taking part the very best of luck, and we hope you enjoy a nice relaxing and comfortable journey with us."

c2c's Service Quality Manager, Emma Webster, who is running the London Marathon for the first time, said: "The London Marathon is one challenge that I have been keen to take on for many years, and I am delighted that I have now been given this fantastic opportunity.

"I am running for the London Air Ambulance charity and helping to raise much needed funds for a new helicopter, further helping to provide critical and timely care for those in the capital who need it most," she added.

More than 150 London Marathon volunteers, co-ordinated by local runner Nigel Pointer and the 'Flyers Southend' running group, will be travelling on their own special private c2c service to help them reach the course and make this world-famous event a success.

The early morning 'Volunteer Special' service from Shoeburyness and Southend Central to Limehouse and Fenchurch Street, will ensure that volunteers from local running clubs are in position in plenty of time to steward the event and marshal runners.
