Chafford Hundred planning verdict: New home on split plot rejected

By Neil Speight 27th Feb 2021

A SECOND bid to cram an additional home into land on Chafford Hundred was rejected by Thurrock council's planning committee last night (Thursday, 25 February).

The proposal to demolish and existing double garage, sub divide an existing plot and construct a new detached dwelling at 32 Lancaster Road was turned down for a second time.

A previous bid was also rejected - and a subsequent appeal to the planning inspectorate lost.

But with a small number of amendments the new application was brought back, prompting committee chair Cllr Tom Kelly to say: "I am surprised this came back in so quickly. I am not very good at spot the difference but this was difficult to see.

"I am not entirely against the application but it is all about standards and if we lower the standards I think we will get a lot applications like this."
