Garden build plan is rejected

By Neil Speight 27th Feb 2021

A BID to squeeze a new home onto a narrow plot of garden in Chadwell St Mary has been rejected.

In December Thurrock Nub News reported on the bid for a new home on land adjacent to 61 Cedar Road.

Planning officers have thrown out the application saying it would have an adverse impact on neighbouring properties and added: "The proposed dwelling, by reason of its scale and siting beyond of the notional building line on Cedar Road, would appear as an overly dominant and incongruous feature on a prominent corner plot.

"This would be out of character in the context and appearance of the immediate street scene and locality and the contribution such plots make to the area. Therefore the proposal would be harmful to the street scene and the character of the area."
