A THURROCK woman will be taking part in tomorrow's London Marathon in tribute and memory of her uncle, who died following cardiac arrest agaed just 54.

Charlotte Hearn, 27, from Chadwell St Mary, will be running to support the British Heart Foundation, inspired by its work to help combat heart and circulatory disease.

She was inspired to do so following the sudden death of her uncle, Darrin Mayo in 2020.

Charlote says: "I am running (jogging, walking… crawling) the London marathon 2022 for the BHF in memory of my incredible uncle Dal. As many of you know Darrin passed away in October 2020, suddenly and unexpectedly of a cardiac arrest, he was only 54. This came as a huge shock to all of us and we have all been left with our hearts absolutely broken. Darrin was loved and known by many. Like myself he was Thurock born and bred.

"The BHF is a charity very close to my and my family's hearts and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Darrin. All money raised will be in his memory and will make such a difference to an incredible charity.

"The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target.

"The work The British Heart Foundation do to help research new technologies in helping stop heartbreak forever is so underfunded considering how serious heart related issues are, your platform could really help me with my marathon fundraising, both myself and the charity would be incredibly grateful.
