FOLLOWING a large brawl at a boxing evening held at Thurrock Civic Hall earlier this month Thurrock council's licensing committee has reviewed the conditions under which such events will be permitted in future.

The review included consulation with police, who are still seeking information about the fight that broke out at the Civic Hall in Blackshots Lane on Saturday, 7 March.

A report will be presented to next week's meeting of the council's suggesting that the permitted length of boxing or martial arts events at the centre will be cut by an hour, with the venue closing at midnight, rather than 1am.

Drinks will only be served in plastic glasses and no alcohol will be sold after the last bout has concluded.

And police will have to be given 28 days notice of any such event scheduled at the hall.
