Club is looking to go under cover!

A POPULAR borough bowls club which is about to start another summer season, is looking to improve its facility and has created a crowdfunding appeal.
Thurrock Bowls Club, based at Blackshots in Grays, is looking to build a covering area so its members and players can stay dry through the bad weather and shelter from the sun.
The club was founded in 1940 and is one of Thurrock's old sporting institutions, becoming a registered charity in 2005 with the objective of promoting community participation in healthy recreation by providing facilities for playing bowls.
A spokesperson for the club said: "We offer every level of bowls from playing in national, county and district competitions to just playing friendly games. It is up to each member what they want to do. We also have county trained level 1 coaches for new bowlers.
"In addition, every Thursday we provide a fun bowls morning for Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions who look after adults with special needs.
"We are crowdfunding so that we can have a seating area where all of our members can sit comfortably through the rainy times and also get away from scorching sun and feel cool. This seating area is also where members of the public can come and enjoy watching a friendly game of bowls.
"Also, if we were to raise enough money we would look to do more improvements to the club house where this will benefit its members and the public too.
"Even if you are a single person donating or a company all of your help is really appreciated. Any companies donating we can also put your boards up around the club to show our appreciation of your support."
You can donate to the cause via this link.
