Convent-ional excellence: Grays students shine

THERE was joy and celebration at Grays Convent High School today (Thursday, 21 August) as Year 11 students received their GCSE results, marking another year of academic excellence and hard-earned success.
The school reported 80% of students achieved a Grade 4 or above in both English and maths, with 60% securing a strong Grade 5 or higher in both core subjects. A third of students achieved top grades (Grades 9-7) across their subjects, 50% achieving Grades 9-6.
The English department led the way, with an outstanding 91% achieving Grade 4+ and 80% securing Grade 5+, showcasing the school's commitment to high academic standards. In addition, 17 subjects recorded results of over 80%, with standout performances over 90% fromDesign & Technology, Photography, and Media Studies.
Headteacher Penny Johnson praised the students and staff for their dedication and achievements, stating: "Today has been a wonderful celebration of our pupils' successes. All of us at the school are thoroughly delighted and proud of every single student, sharing in their excitement about these results and the next stage of their adventures in education.
"As always, it is a privilege to work with these astonishing, inspiring and talented young people and to play a part in their lives. Our staff give their all every year to work with them and should be rightly proud."
Beyond the statistics are inspiring individual success stories. Special recognition goes to Nuha, who achieved an exceptional ten Grade 9s and one Grade 8, and to Khusi, who secured four 9s, five 8s, and two 7s. Samira, Jessica and Themis also got a full house of grade 9-7s.
Head Girl Efe also celebrated a brilliant set of results — two Grade 8s, four 7s and four 6s — all while fulfilling her leadership role within the school community with dedication and grace.
