RESIDENTS have criticised Thurrock Council for not responding quicker to reports of a dumped caravan, which was set on fire last night (Wednesday, 30 March).

They say the incident, which happened on Heath Field, Chadwell St Mary in the alley behind Templer, unnecessarily put people at risk of injury, including firefighters and police who attended the blaze.

Among those who have commented, is a a resident who says: "This this dumped caravan was reported to the council as far back as two weeks ago, numerous times by many local residents

"Fire and police services had to waste time and risk injury or worse dealing with something that could have been easily avoided. What's the point of having a reporting service for tipping and dumping if you do nothing about the reports?"

The council has declined to respond to questions from Nub News.
