Councillors call for curbs on speeding motorists using tip diversion

By Neil Speight   11th Jun 2020

COUNCILLORS in Stanford-le-Hope have asked the council and police to take action to curb speeding on a rural road which is bring used as the main access for the borough's recycling centre.

Because of restrictions in the use of Linford household waste and recycling centre, the council has created a one way loop which involves a lot of traffic being diverted via Butts Lane in Stanford.

And that has led to a number of reports of speeding vehicles.

Ward councillors Shane Hebb and Terry Picollo have taken note of concerns and have asked for something to be done about it.

Cllr Hebb says: "We've raised the increases of vehicle speeds down Butts Lane which residents have reported to us.

"We've asked Thurrock Council for things to be considered to highlight speeds to drivers and ask if police can support doing some speed monitoring etc."
