GRAYS Convent High School Year 11s recently celebrated their successes at GCSE despite the challenges of a return to pre-pandemic grading.

The school is celebrating 77 per cent of students achieving a grade 4 in both English and maths, with 56 per cent achieving the strong grade 5 pass in both English and maths.  Almost a third of pupils achieved the top grades of Grade 9-7 on average, and bested the results in 2019.

Headteacher Penny Johnson, said "It has been a wonderful celebration of our pupil's successes.  All of us at the school are thoroughly delighted and proud of every single student, sharing in their excitement about these results and the next stage of their adventure in education.  As always it is privilege to work with these astonishing, inspiring and talented young people and to play a part in their live".

Behind the statistics are some amazing individual success stories, girls who have overcome all sorts of challenges, but notable student achievements and special credit goes to, amongst so many others:

Top students, Haneefa Ahmed with 8 - 9's and 4 - 8's ; Evie Newman with 8 - 9's and 2 - 8's and Mariam Smith with 6 - 9's and 5 - 8's.

Congratulations are well deserved by Ama Donkor, Head Girl, who achieved 2 - 8's, 7 - 7's and 2 - 6's whilst also carrying out her other duties across the school.
