A BENEFICIARY of a charity soup kitchen has spoken up about how a borough-based charity has helped get him back on track.

Mathew Beadle contacted Thurrock Nub News top say: "I have been attending Friends of Essex & London Homeless soup kitchen in Grays since September 2022 after a word of mouth recommendation from Cllr Lynn Worrall.

"This charity is located outside Grays Baptism Church on Friday evenings from 5.15pm until 6.30pm and they are there to support those in need.

"The group was founded back in 2016 by Steven and Cheryl Stuart and since then they have grown and have become more recognised by many.

"They provide a food bag which lasts for a few days along with a hot dog (whilst you're waiting to move further down the line), hot dinner and a hot drink.

"If you're looking for support, help with toiletries, or in poverty, please reach out and they will support you and put you in contact with the right people.

"They have helped me in so many ways and I am forever grateful with the support I have been given.

"I have been welcomed with open arms and chat to all the different volunteers who help out too.

"They can be found via Facebook and Instagram and you can also help with donations too - there website is HOME | FOELH.

"Again, I am forever grateful for what Steven, Cheryl, and the volunteers have given and keep up the good work they provide but I'd like to also say a... ONE BIG THANK YOU!
