Landmark chimney crashes to ground

Demolition contractors blew up the 215 metre high chimney at the disused Littlebrook power station close to the Dartford Crossing QE11 bridge.

Traffic was halted while the explosion took place so as not to distract motorists when the explosives were fired just after 8am and the chimney, the second highest in the UK, disappeared in a cloud of dust.
