Long diversion via motorway advised as A13 is shut again in both directions for weekend

By Neil Speight 12th Mar 2021

MOTORISTS and residents are reminded that this evening will see the start of another A13 closure - this time with significant diversions.

The A13 will be closed in both directions between the A1089 (Tilbury Dock Approach Road) and A128 (Orsett Cock) with a diversion via the A13, M25, A127 and the A128 and vice versa.

The closure is required to enable the removal of an old signage gantry and to facilitate the installation of new street lighting ducts underneath the carriageway.

The closure takes place from 10pm tonight (Friday, 12 March) until 5am on Monday 15 March. The location of this closure is different to previous A13 road widening closures, to enable complex works to be carried out to the west of Orsett.

Traffic heading up the A1089 northbound from Tilbury will not be able to turn eastbound and will be told to use the diversion via the M25.

Non-local drivers are urged to avoid travelling through Thurrock on the A13, and to use the A127 diversion instead. A separate diversion will be in place for local traffic, including non-motorway permitted vehicles such as mopeds.
