Man arrested after gang of four were involved in Stanford assault

A MAN has been arrested following an assault in Stanford-le-Hope.

Officers were called to Broadhope Avenue at around 3.45pm yesterday (Friday, 19 July) to reports of a man being attacked by a group of four men.

Officers attended and found a man with injuries to his hand, head and elbow.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 23 year-old man from Stanford-le-Hope has been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and he is currently in custody.

Detective Inspector Leanne Ford said: "Officers responded quickly to this incident and we have made arrest.

"However, there are more people we need to trace I need the public's help to find them.

"At this stage we believe this incident was targeted and while I understand there will be concerns about what happened, the public should not be worried for their own safety.

"Detectives are working hard to establish exactly what happened and bring those involved into custody."
