IN the wke of a number of problems in Tilbury last week, which included a stabbing, police have now released details of another incident for which a mand has been charged with criminal damage, assault and theft.

The town was subject to a dispersal order last week after anti-social behaviour problems.

That had just ended when the latest significant incident happened.

A police statemnt says: "A man has been charged following an incident in St Chads Road, Tilbury on Thursday, 30 July.

"We were called at around 6pm with reports that a man had entered Kayla's Convenience Store, and after an exchange of words then assaulted the staff member working behind the till.

"David McKenzie, 47 of Leonards Close was charged with criminal damage, assault, and theft from a shop.

"He has been bailed to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates court, date is yet to be set."

Meanwhile the local Thurrock Police team says it has been busy trying to combat anti-social behaviour in Grays, Tilbury and Stanford-le-Hope.

A statement says: "Our Thurrock Town Centre Team has been tackling anti-social behaviour, working with Thurrock Council to issue 33 community protection notices, two criminal behaviour orders and two community protection warnings.

"These have been issued to shoplifters and other individuals whose behaviour has had a detrimental effect on the community's quality of life, in many cases, preventing them from entering their local town centres."
