Yellow peril on residental road will be gone soon

By Neil Speight 3rd Aug 2020

CONTROVERSIAL double yellow lines on a residential road are to be removed – but it has come too late for some householders who have already been targeted by council enforcement officers.

Residents in Hadfield Road in Stanford-le-Hope have been upset since new permit parking restrictions, a one way system and yellow lines were imposed on them with little of no consultation.

Yesterday (Sunday, 2 August) residents told how six people had been give given parking tickets, with one saying: "This is just for trying to park in your own road.

"This is not about safety, it's about money the people have no driveways or garages. They literally have nowhere else to park.

"I was on a double yellow but was going to move it as soon as a space became available but I still got ticketed."

However, an end to the yellow peril is in sight. Ward councillor Shane Hebb told Thurrock Nub News this morning (Monday, 3 August): "This line is due for removal in the next month. We have worked with one of the residents in Hadfield to get this removed – it makes no sense for it to stay, especially if local residents want it gone too."
