AFTER police responded to local concerns with an arrest on Thursday (27 November) a man has now appeared in court facing drug and modern slavery offences.

Luke Clements, 36, of Araglen Avenue, South Ockendon, has been charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine, being concerned in the supply of cannabis and arranging or facilitating the travel of another person with a view to exploitation.

He appeared before Basildon Magistrates yesterday (Friday, 28 November).
