Ortu Corringham Primary School and Nursery are holding consultations ahead of plans to open a new nursery in an adapted two-storey building next to one of the academy's secondary schools, Ortu Hassenbrook Academy on Hassenbrook Road in Stanford-le-Hope.

The nursery would provide care and education for children prior to school age and be called 'Happy Tots'.

Karina Garrick, acting headteacher of Ortu Corringham Primary and Nursery, said: "We have lots of exciting ideas for this new service, but we aren't starting this new adventure from scratch. We are using our fantastic ORTU Trust pre-school, based at Corringham Primary, as a blueprint.

"We are hoping that everyone, including people without children, or perhaps those with older children, will also take this opportunity to have their say along with parents who may end up using the new nursery. Everybody's view is really important to us, and we want to hear from you. Every idea is a gift."

Views on the project and opinions on how the nursery should operate can be passed on through an online survey that can be found via this link.

In addition to the survey, Corringham Primary and Nursery will hold a coffee and chat session at the Corringham Nursery School, Herd Lane, Corringham, SS17 9BH on Friday, 25 February between 3.30pm and 7pm.

This will provide members of the community with an opportunity to see what the nursery could look like, see how it will be run and ask questions direct to the planners and senior leadership team.
