THE main road through Stanford-le-Hope is expected to be closed overnight later this month to facilitate the erection of a new bus stop near the town's rail station!

Some residents may see that as something ironic given the long and convoluted saga of the town's demolished station buildings – and recently published plans by Thurrock Council to spend millions by finally completing plans for the transport interchange, including bus stops, on the other side of the road!

Others may point with some displeasure at the recent replacement of the shelter on the other side of the role just the other side of the rail tracks which is smaller and has less seating that the shelter that was removed.

The road closure to put up the new shelter is set to happen on Monday, 27 November and is expected to last for one night.

London Road will be closed from the rail crossing to the junction with Victoria Road overnight, reopening at 6am.

It is expected that the work will be completed within the above times, however the Temporary Transport Order granting the road closure will continue in force for a period not exceeding 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner.
