THURROCK planning councillors are being recommended to refuse permission for a development of ten new houses close to Orsett.

The application for the two-storey houses on Sandown Road, which links to the A1013 (Stanford Road) shows they will be laid out in a cul-de-sac arrangement.

The scheme has been opposed by a number of residents in the area who feel it will be the latest in a number of unwelcome additions to building in the area.

Their objections are summed up by resident Stephen Walker who says: "We strongly object to any more development on the green belt land in Sandown Road and feel our lives have been blighted enough."

Officers are recommending refusal, saying the proposed development represents an inappropriate form of development within the Green Belt which is harmful by definition.
