Plans for 200 homes on Blackshots green belt site

HOUSEBUILDER Persimmon has launched a consultation with residents on its plans to build up to 200 new homes in the green belt in Blackshots, Grays.

It is planning to develop Grey Goose Farm which is off Lodge Lane and says its vision is to provide half of the homes for either shared ownership or below market rent through a housing association partner.

The site borders existing development in Ashley Gardens, Fairfield Avenue, Rushley Close and Brookman's Avenue to the west, with farmland to the east and north, and beyond that, the A13.

Persimmon says the scheme would also include landscaping and biodiversity improvements and would promote greener travel with the provision of cycle storage and electric vehicle charging points.

And it adds: "Before submitting an outline application, we are seeking feedback from residents and other interested parties. As a result, we are holding this community consultation."

The site is close to a plot of land, also in the green belt, which is earmarked for 54 dwellings off Blackshots Lane, which is being opposed by residents, who have launched a petition against it. It has already reached 727 signatures.

With no local plan, a government inspector will nod that through as grey belt and then Thurrock would miss out on the development conditions and the section 106 legal bribe towards paying the interest on The £,£££,£££,£££ of debts every household in Thurrock gets for its council tax. At least it is not as bad a Woking.
It will be interesting to see how the new Reform run Planning committee, probably lead by a former Tory will handle itself.?
