AFTER applications to court by Thurrock Council two troublesome social housing tenants found their homes closed and boarded up.
Yesterday (Tuesday, 16 December), a flat at Phillip's House on Ridgewell Avenue, Orsett, was made subject to a closure order because of persistent anti-social behaviour by a tenant.
Police were present when the court order was enacted.
Today, a second closure order was granted for an address in Araglen Avenue, South Ockendon.
A statement from Essex Police said: "These actions follow lengthy investigations and joint work between Essex Police and Thurrock Council's Community Safety Partnership. They represent positive steps to combat anti-social behaviour (ASB) and criminality in our communities.
"A closure order is a legal power that allows us to restrict access to a property for up to three months when it is linked to persistent ASB, nuisance, or disorder. This measure helps protect residents and restore peace to affected areas.
"We remain committed to working with partners and the community to tackle ASB issues and keep Thurrock safe.
"If you have concerns about ASB in your area, please report it to us (see link in the comments) or call 101."
Thurrock Council has been asked to comment but has not yet responded.
