Police call for help after man is seriously injured in Tilbury assault

A MAN suffered significant injuries after being assaulted by a gang in Tilbury.

Police officers investigating the incident are asking for the public's help.

A statement from Essex Police says: "We were called to Calcutta Road, Tilbury, to reports of a serious assault shortly after 9.45pm on Saturday, 10 February.

"Emergency services attended and found an injured man who had been assaulted by a group of people. He had been punched to the head and sustained significant injuries.

"The man, 40s, was taken to hospital.

"We know that there were people in the vicinity at the time and we'd ask anyone who witnessed the assault to contact us.

"Please quote incident 1122 of 10 February or crime reference 42/22554/24 when providing any information to make sure it gets to the right person as quickly as possible.
