Police Op delivers recovery of stolen vehicles

POLICE in Thurrock have highlighted a number of vehicles they have recovered as part of their ongoing 'Operation Ceasar'.

Officers from the Thurrock Community Policing Team have been conducting 'Op Caesar' patrols designed to provide a visible presence and public reassurance around vehicle crime.

At around 11.45am Wednesday, 30 October, a Mercedes Benz stolen from the Rainham area in August was tracked to Philip Sidney Road, Chafford Hundred. The vehicle was located and found to be displaying a completely different set of number plates. a VIN check on the vehicle confirmed it to be stolen.

At around 1.30pm, a BMW 118i stolen from the Chafford Hundred area in the early hours, was located in the car-park near the Dock Cafe in Dock Road Tilbury. VIN checks on the vehicle confirmed it to be stolen.

Officers seized and recovered both vehicles.

Patrols continued on Thursday, 31 October when the team received information about a silver motorbike being stolen in the Stanford-le-Hope area.

Officers rushed to the area, conducted an area search and located the stolen bike, along with three men who were trying to hotwire it in Brookfield Drive.

As officers arrived on scene, the men ran off in different directions.

One of the men were caught and detained. The man, aged 19 was subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

The stolen vehicle itself was recovered and officers also seized and recovered the moped used by the suspects during the incident.
