A PUB in the heart of Stanford-le-Hope has been temporarily closed by its operators after repeated breaches of noise orders.

The New Courthouse on King Street is owned and operated by the nationwide Stonegate Group who have confirmed they acted to remove publican Adam Lakey who reopened the pub around 18 months ago.

In response to speculation about what has happened on social media, a spokesperson for Stonegate Group, said: "We would like to thank the former publican for his hard work over the past 18 months at The New Courthouse.

"However, due to multiple noise complaints from local residents, the publican was served a Noise Abatement Notice from the Environmental Health Officer.

"The publican was offered support and guidance from Stonegate Group to remedy the situation, however the notice was breached on more than one occasion.

"As a result, we are now undergoing a recruitment process for a new publican.

"Placed at the heart of the Stanford-le-Hope community, we know how important the pub is to the local area so we are working hard behind the scenes to reopen the popular pub and welcome back guests in the near future."

Last week Thurrock Council issued a notice saying that it planned to review the pub's licence because of noise issues and public nuisance: https://www.thurrock.gov.uk/public-notices/review-of-premises-licence-new-courthouse-39-king-street-stanford-le-hope-ss17-0hj

Stonegate have already placed a notice on their 'partners' page, seeking a new tenant for the pub, which is listed as having a turnover of £335,529.
