Purfleet will still pay tribute

By Neil Speight 28th Oct 2020

THE first Sunday of November traditionally sees the local series of Remembrance services to mark the end of the First World War - and offer homage to those who gave their lives in subsequent conflicts - start with a parade and service in Purfleet.

Because of Covid-19 restrictions the event will not be happening this year, but local residents are being invited to visit Purfleet's memorial during the day and place personal tributes.

Purfleet community stalwart Trevor Batchelor from the local community forum says: "We are unable to hold our service this year so asking people to visit our memorial on Sunday, 1 November either individually or in groups of no more than six over the course of the day.

"I will be there with John from our Forum, representatives of Purfleet Regeneration along with Cllr Victoria Holloway at 10.45am. The Heritage Centre will be open."
