COMMUTERS and other rail travellers are warned that there will be significant reductions to the c2c services from Thurrock stations in the coming week - with two of them closed for the three days when industrial action takes place.

Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union at Network Rail and 13 train operators are to strike on Tuesday (21 June), Thursday (23 June) and Saturday (25 June) in a dispute over pay, jobs and pensions.

The impact to Thurrock rail services means stations at Chafford Hundred and Ockendon will be closed on both days and on the line that includes Stanford-le-Hope, East Tilbury, Tilbury, Grays and Purfleet stations there will be no very early morning or later evening trains.

Trains will only operate from 7.30am until 6.30pm and there will be just two trains per hour. Check c2c's website for updated information on the strike impact to services.

Rob Mullen, managing director of c2c, said: "We have been doing all we can to prepare for and mitigate the impact of industrial action, but these strike days will severely impact the service we can deliver for our customers.

"No one wins in the event of industrial action, and this will impact those who rely on the railway for work, education, and leisure.

"We encourage our passengers to consider if their journey is essential, work from home if they can, and if they must travel, make sure they plan ahead and check their journey."
