WORK is continuing to renovate an area of forested land in Grays with local volunteers, Thurrock Council and one of its main contractors all contributing.

Over the weekend the latest session took place to clear rubbish and prepare land known as Falconwood off Bridge Road.

Among those helping out was Thurrock councillor John Kent who said: "Spent a really enjoyable morning helping to clear the patch of land known as Falconwood. It's looking so much clearer now and there are three more sessions planned."

Helping the volunteers were workers from housing repairs contractor Mears but helping is an opportunity open to all residents. Children must be eight years and over to take part, and should be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Residents can volunteer to help out with the project on select dates:

• Tuesday, 15 June, 9am to 1pm: making bird boxes and planters

• Thursday, 17 June, 9am to 1pm: making bird boxes and planters

• Saturday, 26 June, 9am to 4pm: making bird boxes and planters
