TODAY (Friday, 29 May) has been 'Fire Engine Friday' and in Thurrock it's been celebrated with a presentation about one of the county's most historic vehicles.

The Essex Fire Museum, which is at Grays Fire Station on Hogg Lane, houses a collection featuring historic fire engines, firefighting equipment, uniforms and photographs.

Collected and curated by former Grays firefighter Roger Pickett the museum provides a fascinating look back in to the history of the fire service and the men and women who fought fires to keep the public safe.

Today Roger talked about his pride and joy, the Dennis F12, which saw decades of service in the borough.
