LOCAl residents tucked into a fish and chip meal thanks to local charity Re-engage and the Rotary club of Mar Dyke Valley.

Re-engage brings together lonely and vulnerable people for events including afternoon tea and festive gatherings.

Recently, the Rotary Club of Mar Dyke Valley hosted a fish and chip lunch for Re-engage Thurrock guests at the Freemasons Hall in Chadwell St Mary.

Local Re-engage co-ordinator Loraine Coleman said: "It was such a wonderful treat for them all. They all had a really lovely time and there were lots of happy faces.

"Or grateful thanks go to the Rotary Club and to our volunteer drivers for driving our guests to the meal.

"We would like to wish you all a Very Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year."
