School gates will reopen after two teachers' virus test prove negative

By Neil Speight 15th Jun 2020

CONCERNS that two members of staff at a Thurrock School might have had coronavirus led to its closure for a day.

But this afternoon it has been confirmed that the duo have tested negative and Belmont Castle Academy will reopen tomorrow (Tuesday, 16 June).

Head Mark Jones had told parents today that the Grays school, which is currently open for Reception, Year One and key workers' children and vulnerable groups was being closed as a 'precautionary measure'.

Following test he was able to announce that the school would reopen, saying: "I'm pleased to report that both members of staff have tested negative so school will reopen tomorrow.

"Thank you for your understanding for today parents and sorry for any inconvenience.

"I should also thank Mr Berville and the cleaners who took the opportunity of doing a thorough clean whilst there were no children in school."
