A NERVOUS wait after 90 minutes of strenuous fundraising activity ended in cheers at a borough gym this morning (Saturday, 17 December).

Sean Laidlaw, 34, founder of the Beyond Limits gym operating from Thurrock Rugby Club set himself and his team the challenge of travelling more than 192,000m in just 90 minutes on various pieces of equipment.

The effort was in aid of the Lennox Children's Cancer fund, as a thank you for its work in helping a local young cancer victim who is now in remission.

Seven-year-old Morgan was at the gym this morning as the team smashed the target and recorded a total journey of more than 200,000 metres.

The 192,000 metre target was set at a similar event a couple of years ago when more people took part, prompting a breathless Sean this morning to say: "They absolutely smashed it. What a great effort. I am absolutely thrilled by what this team of people have achieved."
