YOUNGSTERS visiting Orsett Show next month will be able to enjoy a trip round the Showground for free thanks to support from rail company c2c.

One of the show's attractions is a small train that runs around the showground, linking its myriad array of attractions, and this year it will be free to ride – a double boost for youngsters who also get into the event on Saturday, 7 September for free.

c2c Communications & Engagement Executive Matthew Nicholson, speaking on behalf of Trenitalia c2c Rail, said: "At c2c, we are committed to continuing our work in making a meaningful and positive impact in our local communities; therefore, we are thrilled to be the official transport sponsor of the 116th Orsett Show.

"The show's incredible history has made it an institution across the local region and the UK, one that is steeped in tradition. So, to partner up and become a part of the show's cherished heritage is a tremendous honour.

"We know the show will once again prove to be an incredible event and we are ecstatic that our support will put smiles on faces of festival-goers with a ride on our miniature c2c-branded train."

Show secretary Georgina Clark has welcomed the support of c2c, which connects Thurrock and Basildon with London and Southend through the region's main rail links.

She told Nub News: ""The Orsett Show is delighted that c2c are sponsoring the Land Train this year. To enable visitors to jump on the train free of charge and visit all the corners of the Showground will be fantastic. 

"We would like to thank them for their support of this year's Show and look forward to welcoming their representatives on show day."

This year will be the 116th Orsett Show. Set in 30 acres of Essex countryside in the village of Orsett, the Show has played a big part in the life of the vommunity of Thurrock and is a great Family Day out for young and old alike.

The event's main sponsor will again be The Port of Tilbury and this year's President is Nick Thake. who has been associated with the Show for many years.

There is something for everyone at this year's Show, the Main Arena will have The Bold Dog FMX Team as their main attraction but there will also be Shire Horses, Dog Display, Steam Engines, Bravo Equestrian Team Young Farmers' Farming Through the Year Display and Horse and Hounds. Also the much loved Sheep Show will be back this year.

The numerous marquees around the Showground will host Agriculture, Hobbies & Handicrafts, Crafts, Horticulture, Essex Beekeepers' Association and Education Zone to name just a few of the attractions.

This year the Horse Section is delighted to announce a new committee and more events so there will be lots of competitions going on in the horse arenas.
