"Events like the Show are an important part of Thurrock's culture and we admire the commitment and hard work of the show organisers.

"We would encourage everyone to attend in September and come and say hello to us on the Port stand."

Georgina Clark, Show Secretary, said "Show Organisers are delighted that the Port of Tilbury will once again be supporting the Show.

"Their commitment to the Show over a number of years is testament to their support to the local community and we look forward to working with them again."

Mr Thake said: "I have made Orsett my home since 1977 and have always supported the unique event that is our wonderful Orsett Show.

"My wife and children and now my grandchildren have all competed in the horse section and the whole in family enjoy the show every year.

"I am very honoured to be asked to be President this year and join the tireless committee that works so hard behind the scenes and hope I can bring some positive ideas and actions to help continue the successful future of the show.

"I look forward, as always to a wonderful, exciting day this year showcasing our village, produce, livestock, competitors and attractions and thank everyone involved for making it happen."
