PLANS to create a new business and industry centre on the site of the former Coryton oil refinery continue to progress - with Thurrock Council publicising the developers' latest hopes and ambitions for the project.

Generally there has been a positive response to the project, which will see the creation on the Thames Enterprise Park and possibly up to 4,500 new jobs.

The scheme has been several years in development, with a major planning application being submitted to Thurrock Council in 2018 - see story on our sister news organisation the Thurrock Independent via the red button below.

The park would be a new industrial 'superhub' and the company behind it believe will turn an industrial site into a destination that can be "enjoyed both by employees working on site and by visitors".

They say it will be an attractive landscaped environment with dedicated footpaths and cycleways around the site, commercial units located along a central boulevard and a landscaped corridor along the length of the Shellhaven Creek enhanced with native species.

The development is being progressed as a joint venture between Greenergy and iSec.

Thurrock Council is invited comment on the proposals, which are likely to come up for consideration before its planning committee in the near future.

You can read full details about the application via the council's planning portal at Thurrock.gov.uk - reference number 18/01404/OUT
