A COUPLE of days ago Thurrock Nub News editor Neil Speight reflected on 'What makes Thurrock special' and came to the conclusion that its people were the greatest asset (see story via red button below).

And in the second of our series of focus video features on the local community hubs in Thurrock he called in at Tilbury's hub today to meet some of those special people and find out just what goes on at the hub.

The hub is run by volunteers who can help people find the information and advice they need, as well as offering access to computers, library services and a range of craft and social activities.

Volunteers Chris Talbot and Carol Purser are Tilbury folk who are doing their bit for all members of the local community and they tell why they enjoy their work so much.

The volunteers meet and greet visitors to the hub, on Civic Square, and offer advice on all manner of problems they might have – or simply sit them down for a cup of tea and chat. They can also help them get a library book!

Ward councillor Steve Liddiard is also a regular visitor at the hub which he says is a huge part of the local community. He tell us what makes it special and about the work that goes on there which help Tilbury folk avoid the cost and inconvenience of having to trek to Grays with their problems.

Opening hours at the hub are: Monday 10am - 5pm; Wednesday 10am - 5pm; Friday 10am - 5pm; Saturday 10am - 1pm (Library Only).
