THURROCK residents are being asked to take part in a survey to help ascertain the impact of coronavirus.

The Code For Ethics 2020 is an organisation working to help frontline NHS services plan for what is to happen in the weeks and months to come.

On a day when the number of confirmed coronavirus case in Thurrock rose to 26, its co-chair Barrie Wade says: "With the Covid19 Pandemic spreading across the UK at a faster pace each day and services getting stretched even more than normal, we would like your assistance in promoting this community project to help our NHS Trusts.

"The project has been set up at no cost to the taxpayer, and is not going to make any profit for the organisation running it, this is a community project to help the great British people.

"There has not been a time in history when we have been threatened by a pandemic virus in the way that COVID-19 threatens our nation today.

"The prosperity of our health service and nations health is dependent on the accuracy of data, that data can only be provided by us, the public!

"Our aim, with the help of the community, is to capture data on people self isolating, their ages, symptoms and when they started self isolation.

"We believe this data is vital to NHS trusts across the UK to understand the potential scale of the pandemic and moreover understand the potential strain this could put on their services.

"To that end, jointly with our sponsors, we have worked tirelessly to create an open data capture tool that allows us all to propagate the information required for our NHS and emergency workers to closely and accurately forecast their potential upcoming resources."
