A PLANNED litter pick in Tilbury has been postponed - but volunteers are still planning to step out and clean up the town.

Tilbury Riverside Cllr John Allen had hoped to carry out a clean up near Hobart Road and invited other volunteers to come forward in a story on Thurrock Nub News.,

However, Thurrock Council has eyes on carrying out an operation on the same spot so Cllr allen has switched the venue for Saturday, 15 April.

Cllr Allen said: "I got a message from the council's 'Clean & Green' manager requesting that I cancel Saturday's litter pick so his team can clear the area.

"He said the following: "Our team are aware of the site. This has been fly tipped upon and given the amount of waste the team tried to clear this using a JCB and Grab vehicle,

'However due to the ground conditions they have had to postpone this until the weather is better and ground conditions improve',

'It would be better to allow us to clear this, There is more than just what is on the surface and it will need equipment to clear properly'.

"Therefore I would still like to undertake a litter pick this coming Saturday 15th April and will change the Location to the alleyway in between Chaucer Close and Byanston Road, Tilbury where we were before to bag and remove the smaller items!

"I appreciate the help pledged from those who have offered to take part."
