Tributes paid to young man who died in Stanford rail crossing incident

THROUGHOUT today (Tuesday, 28 March), young people from East Thurrock have been visiting the the rail trackside site where one of their friends died in a collision with a train yesterday.

The incident happened in mid afternoon and was reported on Thurrock Nub News.

The circumstances of the incident on the rail track in Stanford-le-Hope remain unclear and it is unlikely that that they will be fully revealed until an inquest is convened.

It is reported that the incident involved an accidental collision with a passing train involving the 20-year-old victim, who was riding an electric bike,

The incident happened at a crossing point on the track where signals and gates are in place.

The deceased, a 20-year-old former St Clere's School student, has been named locally but in respect for his family, Thurrock Nub News will await official notification from British Transport Police or the Essex Coroner's office

Friends of the victim have placed a number of tributes alongside the track.
