OVER the past couple of days a combined operation to enforce a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in West Thurrock has seen a number of success – including netting two drivers who were travelling at speeds in excess of 120mph.

Thurrock district's community police team and Thurrock council enforcement officers have worker alongside specialist police road policing officers to enforce the order around west Thurrock and the lakeside shopping and leisure area that tackles anti-social behaviour road users and cruisers.

Two section 59 orders, which allow the police to give drivers a warning if they are reported to have used their vehicle in a manner which causes "alarm, distress or annoyance were issued and there were four tickets dispensed for various motoring offences.

Police have also reported five searches with some positive results, five intel reports, a breach of PSPO fine and the speeding tickets, two of which will see the drivers at court for reaching in excess of 120mph.
